nolemming convinced me to go and see Star Trek with him. If you haven't seen it, I recommend taking ear plugs along with you. David didn't have problems, but I did. Luckily, I carry at least one set of ear plugs with me at all times.
It was good. It was very good. It was good in ways that I can not explain. I LOVED the scene with the convertible. It seemed so James Kirk like. Uhura, was awesome. So completely and totally awesome. I love the way she basically told Spock, "Fuck favoritism, I'm the best God Damn Language Bitch around, asshole. You want me on that ship." And Spock went "I'm not a complete fucking idiot, you're on the ship." Which worked out well when the assigned communications person went, "ah... there's a difference between Romulan and Vulcan?!?!"
So, yeah... Kirks the only one that remembers "shiny, shiny, twinkle light by vulcan" that's bad. Not even the man that wrote a flipping paper on it remembers. Of course, he may have missed the fact that Romulan communications had been intercepted somewhere.
All in all a good movie. Uhura's character is much more forceful which is to be expected since it's 2009.
